The large Oktoberfest tents offer more than the famous grilled chicken. See here the menus of the large beer tents to get an overview of what food you can expect at what price. As the full overview won't be available until shortly for the beginning of the Oktoberfest, it will continue to grow until then. In general, there is great food available at the Oktoberfest. Menu Review 2024

For this year's menu review, it should be noted that the temporary reduction in VAT on food in restaurants has expired. At the Oktoberfest 2022 and 2023, only seven percent had to be paid to the tax authorities, whereas now it is 19 percent again. A landlord who raises their prices by a good 11% this year will therefore only make up for the increase in tax.

Different landlords deal with this situation differently. Bräurosl, Armbrustschützenzelt, Käfer Wiesnschänke, Schützenzelt, Winzerer Fähndl, Festzelt Tradition and Museumszelt are close to the tax equalization, i.e. price increases of 11-12%. It is striking that this includes all the particularly expensive tents.

Pork sausages, once a great Oktoberfest classic, are still threatened. This is partly because they have been replaced by Nuremberg sausages on some menus, and partly because their price makes them unattractive compared to other dishes. The Bräurosl has left the price for its two pairs with sauerkraut at an exorbitant €19.80, and they still cost more than the chicken (€16.50) in the Tradition marquee. A new addition is the Boandlkramerei, where they are a whole two euros more expensive than the half chicken (€17.90) and even in the Hofbräu tent they are only 40 cents cheaper (€16.50). The prices in the Hacker tent (€12), Augustiner tent (€12.50) and Museum tent (€10.30) are much more reasonable. It is to be hoped that the Oktoberfest hosts will not continue to neglect this Munich classic.

On the other hand, the menus in the other tents have increased in price considerably more, in most cases by around 15%. However, there are outliers upwards and downwards everywhere. Hechtenkraut in the Bräurosl now costs €29.80, an increase of 36%. Leberkas in the Augustiner tent has become just as much more expensive, now costing €13.50 instead of €9.90. However, some dishes have not become more expensive, which ultimately means a significant loss of margin for the landlord this year. The rather expensive Bräurosl is keeping the price of pork knuckle, pork sausages, Kasspatzn and Rahmschwammerln the same. The wine tent does not even increase the price of seven dishes. These include the popular beer tent classics black tiger prawns (€49) and oysters (€39).

The price of the pork roast at the Käfer is always interesting. This year, the landlord of the same name is keeping price-conscious customers at bay with a price tag of €36.80. The 21% increase in the price of the lunch menu to €34.50 will hurt many. On the other hand, the chicken with potato salad for €19.80 is actually the cheapest (with side dish) at the Wiesn. If you want to show true decadence in the Wiesnschänke, you don't necessarily have to go for the Laurent-Perrier-Balthazar for €3560 this year (our readers know that it holds 12 liters). From 22 p.m., Leberkassemmeln will be available for the first time as a midnight snack for an extremely original €8.50. Speaking of simple dishes that might well cost half as much: In the Löwenbräu tent, a large pretzel costs an impressive €8.40 this year, almost double the price of the museum tent (€4.30).

The new pricing for sausages in the Fischer-Vroni is very pleasing, at least before 12 noon. A veal sausage now costs €2.50, one euro less than before. Wiener sausages have been reduced from €6.50 to €5 and a new addition is the inexpensive Debreziner. It is also pleasing that Bräurosl has at least partially accepted the criticism of the children's menu. The children's portion of Rahmschwammerl has been reduced by €5.10 and Kasspatzn by €1.10. However, the single pair of pork sausages became even more expensive. At a price of €11.90, you would actually expect these to be on the normal menu with a second pair.
