The most affordable hotels within walking distance, in the S-Bahn area, and less than an hour away.

Hotel prices for the Oktoberfest are legendary. But very few people know that you can actually stay within a reasonable distance of Oktoberfest for less than €70. We’ve only included hotels rated at least “good” and rooms with private bathrooms. We’ve chosen the relatively affordable travel period from September 27 to October 1, which also aligns well with the expected crowds. While we’re not affiliated with any of these hotels, we do receive a commission if someone books through our links. As such, this article is an advertisement.

Within Walking Distance of Theresienwiese

Staying close to Theresienwiese is a luxury that many appreciate. Prices at the hotels—most of which are located south of the main train station—are correspondingly high. Our map of the 58 hotels within walking distance of Oktoberfest provides an overview. For under 300 € per night, you can currently still stay at the Schwanthaler Hof and the Buddy Hotel. The Meininger Hotel charges the same price for two beds in a dormitory. Since the other youth hostels within walking distance are also surprisingly expensive, it’s worth comparing prices. A little further away, you can actually find hotel rooms with private bathrooms for less than the price of a dorm bed.

At An S-Bahn Station

If you don’t mind taking the S-Bahn to get there, you can save quite a bit of money. The best deals are the Residenz Peckmann in Gilching for €107 per night and the Hotel Arooma in Erding for €108. Erding definitely has its own charm thanks to its small old town and thermal baths. Holzkirchen isn’t just the S3 terminus—it’s also a stop on the BRB line, which gets you to the Wiesn particularly quickly. You can stay at the Snooze Apartments there for €143.

Within the Munich metropolitan area, we found the Tulip Inn München Messe for under 200 € per night, the a&o München Laim—which is quite close to the Oktoberfest—and the Meininger Hotel Olympiapark near the U1 line for just a little over that.

Less Than An Hour Away

If you want to save even more, you can do so at destinations less than an hour’s drive away. Rosenheim and Landshut stand out in particular here. In the capital of Lower Bavaria, there are two hotels right at the train station—the B&B Hotel and the Ibis—that cost just over 70 €. Meanwhile, you can stay at the Ibis Styles in Rosenheim for an incredible 61 €, which is another 10 € cheaper. However, the B&B Hotel is located closer to the train station and costs 113 €.
