As early as 1932, the drivers of the classic Volksfest attraction Pitts Todeswand (Wall of Death) first displayed their stunts at the Oktoberfest. It was 1932 when founder Peter Löffelhardt started travelling with his motordrome. The three Indian Scout 101 motorbikes, which were bought back then, are actually still used today. His “Todeswand” gained prominence in Munich thanks to one of the early drivers, Käthe Müller. Known under her stage name, Steilwand-Kitty, she was a celebrity in the 30s and 40s. When shows and theaters started to disappear from the Oktoberfest in the 60s, also the number motordromes began to shrink. Also Pitts Todeswand hasn’t been present every year anymore for the following decades. After a rehab in 2004, however, Oktoberfest visitors have been able to watch the show every year. The attraction hardly travels anymore and is an almost exclusive Oktoberfest attraction.
