Hupferl

Hupferl, or Schunkler, have been a classic at fairgrounds for many decades. The specialty of this ride is that passengers could not only theoretically take off due to the sudden up and down movements of the carousel, but actually do so due to the lack of a safety bar. Each passenger is responsible for holding on to their seat - only a bar behind their heads is provided as an aid.

After the Oktoberfest has not had an incarnation of this type of carousel since 2016, it will return in 2024 in the form of the Hupferl.
